Danubius Hotels purchased 100% of the shares of Gama 45 at the end of 1999 and became the owner of Hotel Villa Butterfly of 94 rooms. Our company purchased 64.98 % shares of the Czech company, Lecebne Lázné and has increased its ownership to 90.06% by the end of the year. With this purchase our company became the owner of more than 30 properties, which are primarily hotels, spas and other tourist and health establishments.
Both companies are located in Mariánské Lázné, more known as Marienbad. The picturesque town is only forty kilometres from the German border and two hours drive from Prague. The wonderful health, sport and cultural centre of Western Bohemia is inseparably connected to the names of Edward VII., Goethe, Mark Twain, Chopin and Sigmund Freud, who gladly paid a visit to the once imperial spa resort, and enjoyed the beneficial effect of its thermal waters. From among the more than hundred thermal springs 42 are used regularly, to the usage right of which our company is entitled.
